Doubt Kills Dreams
Than Failure Ever Will.....

Have you heard of the dream building acronym C.I.T.E.?  Here's a summary of how to make a dream come true:

C stands for Create a compelling vision

I'm not talking about simply setting a goal here.  I'm talking about feeling yourself in the midst of your dream actually being your reality. The vision is a powerful lifeline that pulls you forward into your future, through any and all obstacles and fears that will inevitably come up.  Imagining your dream realized is a good first step but connecting to the feeling(s) of your dream is the "compelling" part.

If you'd like more details, here's a great article on how to create a compelling vision of your own.

I stands for:  Identify a Champion

It's easy to be enthusiastic about pursuing a dream in the beginning.  There's lots of energy and excitement.  But once we get started, we discover how challenging and time consuming the process can be.  We need at least one person in our life who believes in us unconditionally, even if they don't know about our specific dream.  Our champion will cheer us on and support our efforts, even when those efforts don't work out the way we planned.  The reason this is so important is that, in the pursuit of a dream, we don't generally go from point A to point B to point C.  It's more like point A to a distraction that lasts a few years to point B, then to a detour that leads us down a different path for a while then to point C.

T stands for: Take that first step

You'll notice that I didn't say "Take THE first step."  If you believe that there is only one correct first step to take in the direction of your dream, no wonder you haven't taken it yet!  If there's only one way to get started, it's going be really easy to get it wrong.  Who wants to feel like they've messed up their dream?  Rest assured, there are so many paths to your ultimate destination that all you have to do is pick a step, any step, in the general direction you want to go and you'll eventually get there.  Remember, this is not a linear process.  There will be detours and road blocks and rest stops. Just pick a step that feels fun and easy for you, and enjoy the ride.

E stand for:  Embrace Fear

We all think that fear is something we have to overcome or conquer in order to realize a dream.  But this sets up such a wall of resistance.  Once we're in that state of resistance, it's hard to let anything in.  Because you will be stepping outside your comfort zone, there will automatically be at least a bit of fear.  Embrace it!  Know that it's going to be present as you try new things, meet new people and think new thoughts and accept it as part of the process.  Have you ever noticed that the physiological symptoms of fear are the same as those of excitement?  If you can accept those butterflies in your stomach as excitement, as the extra energy you're going to need to follow through on your next step, they become a lot less scary.  Here's a tool to help you address any fears that may come up as you proceed "confidently in the direction of your dreams."

Here is the question:

Which of your dreams is still calling to you after all these years?
