Fear of failure or fear of success?

February 2, 2011

I had never really thought about the idea of the Fear of Success until a few years ago when I read about it. I always assumed people wanted success. Who doesn’t, right? Well, lots of folks want success but they are afraid of what else might come with it. How will their friends and family react when they start earning more money? Will their new life style change the people they spend time with? How much more will they have to pay in taxes? These are the sorts of things that can cause a fear of success. I know that it is a very real thing because I fall into that category, or at least I have in the past. I think I’m finally ready to believe that I have whatever I will need to deal with my success.

Which category do you fall in: Fear of Failure or Fear of Success?

The Success Principles by Jack Canfield
The chapters I covered today were 9, Success Leaves Clues and 10, Release the Brakes. Some of the highlights are as follows:

“Success leaves clues.” -Anthony Robbins

“Most people drive through life with their psychological emergency brake on.”

“Don’ be as dumb as an elephant.”

“As long as you keep complaining about your present circumstance, your mind will focus on it.”
