Poor planning

January 14, 2011

How often have you had something to do and you keep putting it off because you know you’ll have enough time later. Only to find out that there is a problem with how to get it done and, not that it’s so late, you can’t fix it in time or get any help. Yep, that’s what happened to me yesterday and why there was no blog post. I ASSUMED everything would be fine with setting up my laptop at a friend’s house where I’m staying at the moment. Sooooo, I didn’t do a post earlier in the day while I was still at home because OF COURSE I would be able to do one later. Nope. Not the case.

Last night found me frantically looking for the security key for their wireless network because it was too late to call them. When I finally had to admit that I just wasn’t going to get a post done, I stopped feeling frantic and just relaxed into it. Actually, the fact that I could be relaxed about it was sort of new for me. There was a day when I would have been freaking out about it. Had it not been so late, I probably would have headed out in search of a coffee house and availed myself of their WIFI. (FYI, this post is being written at a public library since I'm not sure when I'll hear from my friends about the network security key!)

It was a good lesson in planning better when heading into unknown circumstances and also in listening to my intuition, which did whisper to me “You had better do a blog post this morning since you’re not sure what the day holds.” Thanks little voice inside my head. I appreciate the head’s up. I only wish I had listened!
