Walking Away from a Project...
...Doesn't Mean that it's Finished.

Congratulations on getting that de-cluttering project started!  You've made great progress!  Now is the time you have to be careful not to let all the piles you've created turn into slightly more organized clutter.  You know, those piles of things you want to sell, things you want to repair, and things you want to donate.  It's easy to clear out the trash and recycle piles.  You just take them outside and put them into cans.  But the other piles require more thought and more action.

Instead of simply walking past them for the next couple of months (or years), consider what the next step is for each of them. Decide where you'd like to sell the items you've set aside; this may take a bit of research. Are the items you want to repair worth the time and energy it will take to track someone down who can fix them? If you have clothes that need to be altered, do you have someone in mind who can do it?  Which of the many charities would you like to take your donatable items to?

You don't have to decide all the steps for each group of things. Just figure out what your next step is.  And here's the real secret to success:  set a deadline.  For instance, if you give yourself two months to sell items, and still haven't done it at the end of that time, you're not interested in putting the time into doing it.  We make time for the things that are truly important to us.

Here's an article that has some general ideas about where to sell items.  At the end of the article, there are more links to specific categories of items.

Here is the question:

What is your next step in getting your items sold, repaired or donated?
